Every shaving bar is slow-infused with 艾叶 (Ai Ye, Artemisia argyi)—the classic herb of 艾灸 (moxibustion), described in the pharmacopeias as “纯阳之性”: warming, moving, and clarifying. We source 蕲艾 (Qì’ài) from 蕲春 Qichun, Hubei, a historic origin, and purchase once a year at peak season to honor both terroir and timing.

Why timing matters — 端午 Duānwǔ & 天地精华
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, harvest follows nature’s rhythm. 端午 (Duānwǔ; early summer) marks a high-yang moment in the Five-Element cycle (Fire phase). Culturally, it’s the turn of the year when warmth, humidity, and insects rise—homes are hung with mugwort to purify and steady the air.
Explained simply: around Duānwǔ, aromatics and actives peak. Leaves gathered then hold more of the season’s “天地精华”—the concentrated vitality of heaven and earth. We shade-dry and slow-infuse the herb into oils, preserving lipophilic constituents that translate to a composed, non-greasy finish on skin.
