Wildcrafted, Whispered, Cured: The Birth of Verdant Veil Facial Bar

ree

High in the quiet meadows of Montana’s Bitterroot Valley, we gathered what the land was ready to give: wild horsetail, whispering along the creek beds, and broad, healing plantain, rooted low beneath cottonwoods and pine. These are not dramatic herbs, but steady ones — timekeepers of the forest floor, known for their quiet power to mend, firm, and soothe.

After harvesting, we gently rinsed the horsetail and plantain, letting the valley dust run clear. Then the two herbs parted ways.

The plantain leaves, broad and tender, were laid flat to dry in the shade, so their structure wouldn’t bruise or curl. The horsetail, slender and reed-like, was tied in small bunches and hung upside down, drying in the cool dark for two full weeks. This slow, careful drying preserves their most delicate compounds — silica, tannins, and soothing enzymes — which sunlight can easily degrade. It’s a process of patience and respect. The kind that leaves something behind in the oil.

Once dried, the herbs were tucked into cold-pressed camellia oil, where they infused over six unhurried weeks. No heat. No shortcuts. Just daily swirls and quiet waiting.

From that vivid green infusion, Verdant Veil began to take shape.

We made this bar with summer skin in mind — skin that’s been sun-touched, wind-swept, and overstimulated. Skin that needs calming, not scrubbing. Comfort, not complication.

The formula is intentionally gentle: a blend of babassu, grass-fed tallow, mango butter, walnut, and castor oils, carefully balanced to cleanse without stripping. Each bar was poured in a super small batch, cured slowly, and enriched with organic Moroccan argan oil after saponification for a silky, non-greasy finish.

The result is a facial bar that restores — not just softens — skin that feels inflamed, tight, or sensitive. It brings a kind of quiet your skin can feel.

Each bar is crowned with wild lupine and wood rose—blossoms gathered from the very trails where the herbs were foraged. My daughter lovingly collected every Woods' rose petal by hand, while we were lucky to find the season’s last lupine blooming at higher elevations. The scent is a serene blend of bergamot, lavender, and

frankincense—delicate, floral, and deeply grounding.

This is not a fast product. It is not designed to shock or resurface.

It is built, like the plants that inspired it, to heal slowly and deeply — especially in the seasons when our skin needs that most.
