For years at markets, people have leaned across the table and asked, “Do you make anything for dogs?” Each time, I’d smile, shake my head, and tuck the thought away for later.
And then one day, my dear friend Lena asked again — not just as a customer, but as someone who truly cares for every living thing around her. That gentle nudge was all it took.
After weeks of testing, refining, and many muddy pawprints later, I’m finally ready to share what’s been in the works:✨ our first line of pet shampoo bars, handmade from the root — for both dogs and cats.
This isn’t just a new product. It’s a reflection of the tender hearts and quiet kindness that keep this small craft alive — people who care not only for themselves, but for their four-legged companions, too.
🌿 A Thoughtful Beginning
I wanted to create something that felt gentle enough for the softest fur, yet strong enough to stand up to Montana trails. So I started where I always do — with the science beneath the poetry.
Dogs and cats live in a different pH world than we do: humans are slightly acidic (around pH 5.5), while dogs and cats are closer to neutral ~6.5–7.5.That means most human shampoos — even natural ones — can be too harsh for them.
True soap will always rest around pH 7.5–8, but by careful formulation, long curing, and generous superfatting, we can bring it to a mild, balanced level that cleans without drying. Each bar is tested and cured for weeks before wrapping — mellowed naturally, never rushed.
🐕 Two Lines, Two Stories
1. Everyday Wash
For the ones who tumble in grass and come home smiling.
Creamy home-rendered grass-fed tallow and unfiltered, unrefined shea butter bring a dense, moisturizing lather — ideal for our dry Montana air.
Rice milk and aloe vera add soft hydration and help calm irritation.
Calendula-infused camellia and hazelnut oils soothe sensitive skin and add a natural sheen to the coat.
Lightly scented for dogs with a gentle blend of cedar, blood orange, and lavender — a forest-bright aroma known to:
Calm nerves during bath time (lavender)
Help repel pests and deodorize naturally (cedar)
Add cheerful freshness (blood orange)
For cats, our Everyday Wash remains completely scent-free — because their delicate systems and powerful sense of smell deserve that respect. Cats metabolize essential oils differently, and even gentle scents can stress or irritate them, so we keep it simple: nourishing fats, mild bubbles, nothing more.
2. Trail Guard — for the Wild Ones
Born for muddy paws, campfire naps, and forest wanderings.
Trail Guard is our premium bug-defense line, fortified with neem and karanja oils — two ancient Ayurvedic botanicals that help fend off fleas, lice, and mites while soothing the skin beneath.
Neem: an earthy defender — antifungal, antibacterial, and a natural pest deterrent that eases irritation from bites or dryness.
Karanja: neem’s quieter cousin — equally protective, but with a softer, less pungent scent that won’t overwhelm sensitive noses or paws.
Paired with the same base of tallow, shea, calendula-infused oils, aloe, and rice milk, Trail Guard cleans gently but works hard — perfect after long hikes or a weekend at the river.

Each bar is paw-shaped, small enough to hold comfortably, solid enough to last, and wrapped plastic-free in compostable paper. They’re slightly smaller than our human soaps — and yes, irresistibly cute.
